Family Dance - Ages 2-5 with adult
Tuesdays, 10:00-10:40 am (Upstairs)
Enjoy singing and dancing and playing together! Parachute play, dancing with scarves, instruments, and much more! Movement is an essential part of learning. Dance activities emphasize the fun and excitement of discovering the world through movement. Learn movement activities and yoga poses that can be explored at home. A parent/caregiver participates in the class with the child.

Creative Dance - Preschool Ages 3.5-5
Wednesdays, 3:45-4:25 pm (Upstairs)
Dance activities emphasize the fun and excitement of discovering the world through movement. Explore dancing with scarves, rhythm instruments, parachute play, story dance, yoga, and much more! Participants must be age 3 by September 1, 2023, and be ready to be in a class on their own. There will be an end-of-year performance held in May 2024, which all dancers are invited to be a part of, giving dancers the chance to share all we have learned throughout the year.

Creative Dance - Grades K-2
Wednesdays, 4:30-5:10 pm (Upstairs)
Dance skills and movement vocabulary are taught with an emphasis on body awareness and confidence in movement. Create beautiful improvisational dances as you learn and explore the tools of dance - technique, design, rhythm, flow, and creativity. In addition, you will develop music appreciation as you dance to the many musical rhythms, learn problem-solving skills, and create solo and group dances expressing the uniqueness of each dancer. Yoga postures and stories and relaxation techniques are integrated into the class to connect body, mind, and spirit. There will be an end-of-year performance held in May 2024, which all dancers are invited to be a part of, giving dancers the chance to share all we have learned throughout the year.

Creative Modern Dance - Grades 3-6
Wednesdays, 5:15-6:10 pm (Upstairs)
Modern and ballet dance technique is formally introduced with an emphasis on self-expression, creativity, and fun. The class is designed to develop rhythmic, coordination, and creative skills necessary in the art of making dances. Through yoga, dance exercises and combinations you will develop strength, flexibility, posture, and balance. Then explore moving to a variety of music as you create your own dances. Develop an understanding of dance appreciation as you dance amongst a group of friends who respect and admire each other's unique ways of moving. Yoga postures and stories and relaxation techniques are integrated into the class to connect body, mind, and spirit. Creative Modern Dance - Grades 7+
Fridays, 3:45-4:40 pm (Upstairs)
Students learn the craft of choreography as they develop dance vocabulary, original movement, and evaluation techniques to express a wide range of ideas. Explore a variety of dance techniques including modern, ballet, and jazz. Explore moving to rhythmic patterns and learn dance combinations as well as create your own compositions to the various styles of classical, jazz, pop, world, new age, and lyrical music. Explore Yoga flows and relaxation techniques. All levels are welcome. There will be an end-of-year performance held in May 2024, which all dancers are invited to be a part of, giving dancers the chance to share all we have learned throughout the year.

Dancers Workshop Performing Group of Pepperell - Grades 3+
Dancers Workshop is a performing dance company of young people who share a love of dance and a desire to bring the art of dance to the community. Dance company members perform at several community events and festivals throughout the year, which may include performances at nursing homes, community centers, local town festivals, and schools, as well as family performances. The goals of The Dancers’ Workshop are to:
share a love of dance with the community, increase people’s awareness of and appreciation for creative and expressive dance, and dance amongst a group of friends who respect and admire each other’s unique ways of moving. In addition to weekly rehearsals and performances, dancers are required to attend a creative modern dance class in their age group.  Please contact the instructor directly for more details (including performance dates) before registering for this special class.

Adult Creative Dance

Gently stretch and strengthen your body. Explore movement concepts, develop modern dance skills, improvise, choreograph, and let your creative spirit soar in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Exercise while having fun!  All levels of experience are welcome.

Nutcracker Workshop- Grades K-4
Wednesday, December 6, 1:00 pm-4:00 pm  (This is an early release day for the North Middlesex School District)

December is the time for sugarplums to dance and for fantasies to come to life.
One of my favorite traditions of the holiday season is going to see the Nutcracker. Join us for this special workshop as we create dances to the story and music of the Nutcracker.
Parents can start their holiday shopping while the kids dance, make some crafts to take home, and have lots of fun!

Please bring a peanut/nut free snack.  Minimum 5 students to run the workshop. Please register by November 29, 2023.

 
All Dance Classes are taught by Jennifer McGowan:
Jennifer has danced since her early childhood years with extensive training in Classical Ballet. She began teaching at the age of 14 and then went on to further her studies at Skidmore College where she received her B.S. degree in Dance, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. In addition to ballet, she has studied many forms of dance including Creative Dance, Character Dance, Bharata Natyam (Classical Indian Dance), Tap, Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Music and Acting for Dancers, Choreography, and Improvisation. She is also certified to teach Creative Kids Yoga for children ages 2-12. As a teacher, Jennifer creates a safe environment for students to be themselves while challenging them to discover their full potential. By encouraging students to work together and learn from one another, she fosters mutual respect and a strong sense of community. Jennifer started the Creative Dance Center in 1995. She has been sharing her knowledge and love of dance with children for over thirty years and is dedicated to providing quality dance and yoga education for children of all ages. When she is not dancing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
