Mini Dance, Arts, & Yoga Workshop (Ages 4-6)
A special dance camp designed for younger dancers.  The day begins with a creative dance class where children can express themselves through movement. Dancers will explore yoga shapes, musical instruments, parachute play, dancing with colorful props, obstacle courses, and more. Dance class will be followed by a special art project.  After a healthy snack brought from home, we will join together for songs and a story to end our day.
 
AM Session:  August 4—August 8 (M-F), 9:30-11:00am
PM Session:  July 21  - July 25 (M-F), 3:30pm-5:00pm
Tuition: $110/5 days

 

Creative Dance, Arts, & Yoga Workshop (Ages 6-10)
The day begins with a creative dance class where children express themselves through movement. Students explore dancing to a variety of music and dance styles while developing age-appropriate skills and learning ballet and modern dance vocabulary.  Dance class is followed by an art project integrating art and movement concepts.  Each day will encompass a different theme. Then, we will enjoy a nut-free snack brought from home. A special activity  will follow, which may include drama and theatre games, dance history, yoga games, sing-alongs, story time, music for dancers, or costume designing.  At the end of each day we will close our program with yoga and relaxation. Full day option is available -please bring nut-free lunch if attending both sessions.

PM Session:  July 21  - July 25 (M-F), 12:30pm-3:00pm
Tuition:
$180/5 days morning/or afternoon session
$350/5 days morning and afternoon session
 

 
Dance Choreography Workshop (Ages 7-13)
Each session begins with a dance class where students will learn dance steps and combinations to a variety of music styles and dance techniques, including modern, ballet, jazz, and world dance.  Then they will work together to create a piece of choreography based on the style of dance. After, students will have the opportunity to explore other areas of dance performance including costume and set designing, dance history, theatre, and music, and visual art. Building on the belief that all children are artists, students will explore a wide variety of media including drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture. Dancers will conclude the day with relaxation and yoga. All levels welcome. There will be a short performance for parents on Friday at the conclusion of the program. (please bring a nut-free snack and lunch)

All Dance Classes are taught by Jennifer McGowan:
Jennifer has danced since her early childhood years with extensive training in Classical Ballet. She began teaching at the age of 14 and then went on to further her studies at Skidmore College where she received her B.S. degree in Dance, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. In addition to ballet, she has studied many forms of dance including Creative Dance, Character Dance, Bharata Natyam (Classical Indian Dance), Tap, Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Music and Acting for Dancers, Choreography, and Improvisation. She is also certified to teach Creative Kids Yoga for children ages 2-12. As a teacher, Jennifer creates a safe environment for students to be themselves while challenging them to discover their full potential. By encouraging students to work together and learn from one another, she fosters mutual respect and a strong sense of community. Jennifer started the Creative Dance Center in 1995. She has been sharing her knowledge and love of dance with children for over thirty years and is dedicated to providing quality dance and yoga education for children of all ages. When she is not dancing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
