2026-27 Adaptive Creative Dance Classes with Jennifer McGowan
Adaptive Dance Teens/Adults (Ages 13+)
2nd Wednesday of the Month, 4:00-4:55pm (Upstairs)
Creative Dance and Yoga demonstrates the beauty and importance of dance in everyone's life. Dancers discover new ways of moving as they explore the elements of dance, build a movement vocabulary, and develop basic motor and locomotor skills, while they gain confidence, learn problem-solving skills, leadership, and self-control. Dancers will be introduced to the Brain Dance, a series of movement patterns, developed by Anne Green Gilbert, which connect mind and body. In addition, dancers will enjoy moving to a variety of music, Creative Dance and Yoga demonstrates the beauty and importance of dance in everyone's life. Dancers discover new ways of moving as they explore the elements of dance, build a movement vocabulary, and develop basic motor and locomotor skills, while they gain confidence, learn problem-solving skills, leadership, and self-control. Dancers will be introduced to the Brain Dance, a series of movement patterns, developed by Anne Green Gilbert, which connect mind and body. In addition, dancers will enjoy moving to a variety of music, dancing with colorful props, and dancing to stories and poems as they create their own dances. Yoga postures and stories and relaxation techniques are integrated into the class to connect body, mind, and spirit. For all abilities/disabilities; a family member or support person is welcome to assist if needed. Need a minimum of 4 enrolled to run each class.
Fall Session: $72/4 classes or $20/class (must register at least 1 week in advance.) 9/9/26,10/14/26, 11/11/26, 12/9/26
Winter/Spring Session: $90/5 classes or $20/class (must register at least 1 week in advance)

All Dance Classes are taught by Jennifer McGowan:
Jennifer McGowan has been sharing her knowledge and love of dance with children for over thirty years. She received her B.S. degree in Dance from Skidmore College, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. In addition to extensive training in ballet, she has studied many styles of dance including Creative Dance, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Choreography, and Improvisation. She is also certified to teach Creative Kids Yoga for children ages 2-12. As a teacher, Jennifer creates a safe environment for students to be themselves while challenging them to discover their full potential. By encouraging students to work together and learn from one another, she fosters mutual respect and a strong sense of community. Jennifer started the Creative Dance Center in 1995 and is dedicated to providing quality dance education for people of all ages and abilities with the belief that dance is for everyone and everyone can dance.
